90+ Years of God’s Amazing Grace & Favor
God has brought Greater Grace Temple a mighty long way, from a three-member congregation in a basement in 1927 to today’s 6,000-member ministry. This story is one of faith, perseverance, and God’s unchanging guidance.
Bishop Ellington Forbes
Bishop Forbes, his wife, and mother-in-law laid the foundation of GGT. Despite financial hardships and frequent relocations, they trusted God and walked by faith, planting the seeds of a ministry that would grow beyond imagination.
Bishop David L. Ellis
Taking the helm of a struggling church, Bishop David Ellis turned GGT around, transforming it into a spiritual pillar of Detroit. He envisioned the “City of David”—a campus that would serve as a refuge for the hurt, broken, and lost.
Bishop Charles H. Ellis III
Following his father’s passing, Bishop Charles H. Ellis III proclaimed, “The Vision Shall Come to Pass.” Under his leadership, the $35 million “City of David” opened in 2002, complete with a 4,000-seat auditorium, schools, housing, and community ministries. Membership grew, ministry expanded globally, and Bishop Ellis was elected Presiding Bishop of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World. Today, the vision continues to advance under his guidance: “There’s always another vision!”
