Bishop Charles H. Ellis III is celebrating 30 years as the Senior Pastor of Greater Grace Temple in Detroit, Michigan. He pastors nearly 4,000 and is known as a leader “with a heart for people.” The church and most of its entities are located on a 20-acre campus called the City of David. The church includes a 4,000-seat Auditorium, with an elegant Banquet Hall and Conference Center. Under Bishop Ellis’ leadership Greater Grace Temple has over 50 ministries & affiliated entities including the following, which extend beyond its religious mandate.

Bishop Ellis served the 1.3 million-member Pentecostal Assemblies of the World (P.A.W.) as its Presiding Bishop (2010 – 2018). He brings the message of God’s love to a potential 20 million viewers across the nation on “The Word Network” and other television and radio outlets.

Currently, Bishop Charles H. Ellis III and business partner MHT Housing, Inc. are constructing an exciting new 4-phase affordable housing development at the high-profile location of the former Brewster Wheeler Recreation Center site in Detroit. In addition to the full restoration of the Rec Center, this completed development will feature four new 4-story apartments (211-total units). One of these four apartments will address the significant housing need for young men aging out of the Michigan Foster Care system by providing complete wrap-around services for successful independent living. This $83 Million Dollar development brings back to life the desolate site of our nation’s inaugural federally subsidized public housing Brewster Projects.

Bishop Ellis is a Business Administration graduate of Wayne State University with a major in Accounting. He also holds an honorary doctorate from Aenon Bible College. He is married to the lovely Crisette Michelle, and is the proud father of three children: Kiera, Charles IV, and Kirsten (who made her transition in 1994) … the proud Grandfather of the Charles V and Khloe.
